Business Leaders: Academic Article: EFFECTS OF LEARNING CAPABILITY, TECHNOLOGY CHANGE, GLOBALIZATION FORCE, BUSINESS EXPERIENCE, AND ENVIRONMNETAL COMPLEXITY ON TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP: EVIDENCE FROM THAILAND.

In the article, EFFECTS OF LEARNING CAPABILITY, TECHNOLOGY CHANGE, GLOBALIZATION FORCE, BUSINESS EXPERIENCE, AND ENVIRONMNETAL COMPLEXITY ON TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP: EVIDENCE FROM THAILAND, Phapruke Ussahawanitchakit studies how much of an influence each of these has on transformational leadership. This is important because leaders need to know how to create and drive transformational leadership. The author uses this definition of transformational leadership, “Transformational leadership refers to an ability of leaders to motivate subordinates to achieve performance beyond expectations by transforming the subordinates’ attitudes, beliefs and values as opposed to simply gaining compliance (Rafferty and Griffin, 2004).”

The study uses hypothesis testing to individually test if and how much transformational leadership is influenced by these factors. The study used 111 Thai technology businesses as its sample. The conclusions of the study show that transformational leadership is greatly affected by globalization force. Business experience has a lot of influence on transformational leadership. Environmental complexity may have some influence on transformational leadership. The interesting conclusions were that learning capability and technology change were not related with transformational leadership.

Managers can use this knowledge to create greater transformational leadership within their firms by focusing on globalization, gaining experience in business, and environmental complexity. The study shows that these will have the greatest impact upon the level of transformational leadership within a firm.

  1. I agree with you, understanding your organization, your workers and other surrounds would make you a good transformational leadership. That would be because you are understanding the different needs in the organizations and are capable of meeting them.
