Innovation is a key factor in the
success of a business. Innovation in medicine has led to some of the most
important things that help save lives everyday. The purpose of this article is
to introduce some innovating techniques that are new in the medical field and
how they are widely accepted in Ohio. One of the new products being developed
in Ohio is the self-adhering fabric band that is designed to decrease the
chances of an IV snagging in the hospital. Dr. David A. Sybert, an
anesthesiologist from Riverside Methodist Hospital noticed that most of his
patients while in surgery would have their IV’s ripped out or snagged by the
machines; which can cause major problems during surgery. Another doctor out of
Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Alice Epitropolus, is famous for her cataract and
refractive surgery. She was granted money to pursue her invention of the
EipGlare tester which according to the article titled, “Ohio Rolls out the
Welcome Mat for Physician Inventors” “simulates an automotive headlight to
reproduce the vision impairment that cataract patients experience at night.” (Ryan

help fight obesity. This device was invented by two surgeons at Ohio State
University Medical center, Bradley J Needleman and Jeffery W. Hazey. Obesity is
very major in society today and we need more doctors and surgeons to focus on
new techniques to provide assistance to patients suffering with this deadly
problem. In conclusion, you can see that innovative techniques in the medical
field are very important to well being of everyone in society. The more
techniques being invented or perfected, the more lives will be saved.

I think that innovation in the medical field is very interesting. Just like technology is advancing in other different areas the fact that its also having an impact in this area is very interesting. As time goes by and many more things become developed the medical field in my opinion will continue to elaborate just like everything else has with new technology.
