New Homes and Technology

New Homes and Technology
The wave of the future and ten aspects to look at when projecting the technology shift of the future are all talked about in an article called the Futurist. Authors Chris Carbone and Kristin Nauth share their viewpoints on what ten key trajectories will guide the new wave of technology.
The purpose of the article is to enlighten readers on how certain shifts in technology will change how things are done today. Examples of the ten trajectories are doing away with the cables that hook up to our personal computer devices at home and at school, the future points us in the direction to a more wireless type of computers and operating systems no longer dependent on plugging into cables. Interface without a keyboard and a mouse will also be on the top ten trajectories of new technology changes. Knowing the consumer will also be a new trajectory for technology as new technology will focus more on what the consumer is buying, located, and their everyday habits will help manufactures of technology better understand their consumer.  The two authors of this article also explain how houses and apartments will change with new technology inventions also. For example home systems installed in the house and apartments could monitor the body language of the home owners and adjust the home to better suit the homeowners. The house could lower and raise the temperature of the house and turn the lights on and off depending on which room a person is in. Much of the technology created now will replace keyboards and use voice recognition software instead which is faster than having to type all the information. New lighting technology in our homes could eliminate the need for paint as adjusting lights could project onto a wall with changing color designs.  The two authors in this article point out how every aspect of technology will change how we as humans live and communicate with each other in the future.
The implications of this article are to those companies who do not embrace the change of technology. Companies who refuse to change their designs and the way their technology operates will not be on the leading edge of the future and risk losing their customers. Managers in today’s technology companies should work with their research and design team to improve their products to stay in front of the technological wave of change.

  1. I honestly think that this was a pretty neat blog to read, the fact that technology is advancing so fast is quite incredible. Not using any kind of cable to connect a computer to a keyboard is something very interesting. Wireless connections have become very popular over the past few years. In my opinion I believe that companies will eventually have to eventually adapt to new technology in order not loose any business.

  2. I have been in the IT business for over ten years so keeping up with technology is nothing new to me, but is always very challenging. From what I have seen the companies that design or implement the lastest technologies are usually the industry leaders. This can have strong implications on a company that implements the latest technolgy and it fails. Successful IT project require strong buy in from the employees that will use the technolgy so this nees to be the first step in the process. This article is interesting on how technology will enhance a homeowers life. It will be interesting to see which builders are the first to jump on this technolgy.
