Josh Dearing - Introduction

My name is Josh Dearing, and I’m on track to graduate from UHCL at the end of the summer semester.  My degree will be in Business Management with a specialization in Leadership and I will finish 1 course shy of a Human Resources specialization.

I am currently unemployed, but over the past 5 years have worked in many different manual labor jobs.  I have worked as an electrician’s apprentice, a warehouse manager, and I’ve repaired tools for an electrical construction company.  The long hours and unrelenting heat inspired me to go back to school, which I hope will get me a nice air-conditioned job that pays much better than my prior jobs.

Outside of school I’m an avid sports fan.  I love all of the Houston teams, but I will watch just about any game that’s on television, including golf, hockey, and soccer.  I’m excited to graduate because it will give me time to read, which I love to do but haven’t had much time for.  I also really enjoy many different kinds of music, although not much of which you will hear on the radio.

I’ve never participated in a blog before, and to be honest I’m not sure if I’ve ever even read a blog.  Hopefully this project will help me to seek out, understand, and participate in more blogging activities that I’m interested in, however, I must admit that I’m a little bit intimidated.

  1. Hello Joshua,

I am as excited as you are to finish school this summer so that I can enjoy my free time. I remember you mentioning in our group discussion that you are taking other online classes, so I wish you good luck this summer. We are in the same boat.

I have never used a blog as well and I feel like this class is going to require a lot from us. As your fellow group member I hope we can help each other out when needed. Team work is the best work!

    1. Kim, I absolutely feel like we can help one another. We can try to figure this out together, and let each other know what we've learned. I'm taking 9 hours this semester, but this is my only online class, but the other two classes are face to face, and I spend a good bulk of my time at the school during the week. Good luck this semester with your other courses (this one too of course).
