Business Analysis Training Helps Leaders Achieve an Enterprise-wide Perspective. Leader to Leader; Fall 2010, Vol. 2010 Issue 58, p 63-64, 2p. Business Source Complete. Web 21 June 2012

Business analysis is a topic that is discussed as how decisions are made in an organization. In the past the only people that trained in business analysis was the upper management of an organization. Starting in the 1990’s some organizations started training the newer employees of the company in business analysis. The reason that the organizations were training there newer employees in business analysis is so decisions can be made at all levels of management. When decisions need to be made there are many of things that need to be looked at. If an employee understands the ideas involved with business analysis than the correct decision is more likely to be made. Training for business analysis can be done in schooling at universities or can be accomplished with on the job training. Many organizations like the idea of all employees having training in business analysis because in business analysis the employee will better understand how to complete a strengths, weakness, opportunity, and threat analysis. The employee can also be able to see opportunities of competitive advantages.
The employees will also be able to see how the company can grow from expanding markets to other areas. With a background of business analysis all employees would be able to make a better return on investments through being able to make better decisions to benefit a organization.

Theories that this article is expressing is the theory of enterprise-wide perspective (Business Analysis Training). This theory expresses that if all employees in an organization have training in business analysis than better decisions will be made in the organization. With an enterprise-wide perspective all employees are taught to be leaders and be able to make decisions in an organization.

  1. I agree with this article in the fact that Business Analysis should start at lower levels. I think companies that do start this process at lower levels offer employees a growth within the company.

  2. I think this is a good idea because often times employees at lower levels have the most realistic perspective within a company. Their analysis may be very specific as related to the company as a whole, however, it is likely to be a very effective analysis of their segment, region, product line, etc.

  3. I agree with lower level employees. In addition, I recommend "young employees", why? Young people nowadays update a lot of information, technology, even faster than elder employees. They don not mind to travel, go out there to seek the sources. Elders have experiences can train the young ones while they can update their own knowledge to the growing company. Lower level? A company should not hestitate to hire them because they are the basic level people who can build the strong base of company.
